The paper under review is a detailed incursion into the foundations of commutative ring theory providing an analysis of various notions of integrality of an injective ring homomorphism \(A \to B\) related to an admissible subset \(X\) in Spec\((A)\). For \(X\) in Spec\((A)\), where \(X\) is an admissible set associated to a flat epimorphism \(A \to E\), the authors define the \(X\)-closure of \(A\) in \(B\) and study the behavior of this notion under natural constructions in commutative algebra. Building upon their previous work [\textit{G.~Picavet} and \textit{M. L'Hermitte-Picavet}, Commun. Algebra 21, No. 1, 179--219 (1993; Zbl 0774.13002)] as well as \textit{R. G. Swan's} contributions on seminormality [J.~Algebra 67, 210--229 (1980; Zbl 0473.13001)], the authors develop the concepts of infra-integrality and subintegrality along an admissible set. Inspired by work of \textit{H. Yanagihara} [Kobe J. Math. 10, No.2, 147-159 (1993; Zbl 0830.13015)], the authors introduce two new closures for an injective ring homomorphism \(A \to B\), the \(X-t\)-closure and \(X\)-seminormalization of \(A\) in \(B\). An analysis of these notions is then developed for the class of decent rings (for \(X\)-seminormality) and weak Baer rings (for \(X-t\)-closedness). The paper ends with examples and an appendix on flat epimorphisms and their local characterization. The paper is carefully written and interesting to read.
