The authors consider a class of Gaussian fields on \(\mathbb{R}^d\) with stationary increments and spectral density \(f\) as a model of the homogeneous anisotropic material, or its radiographic images. They first prove that if we consider the restriction of the field along the straight line of \(\mathbb{R}^d\), then the path of the one-parameter random field has the same Hölder regularity independent of its direction. So, to recover the anisotropy, they propose the ``directional average method'', namely considering the average of the field over all the hyperplanes orthogonal to \(u\in \mathbb{S}^{d-1}\). Then, it is shown that under several conditions on the asymptotics of \(f\), these one-parameter fields have different regularity depending on its direction \(u\). They also exhibit several examples with this anisotropic property.
