The authors study the family of reaction -diffusion problems \(u_{t}= \Delta u+f(u),\;t>0,(x,y)\in\Omega_{\varepsilon},\;\partial_{v_{\varepsilon}}u=0,\;t>0,(x,y)\in \partial \Omega_{\varepsilon},\) where \(\Omega\) is an arbitrary smooth bounded domain in \(\mathbb{R}^{2}\) and \(\varepsilon>0\) is arbitrary, squeezes \(\Omega\) by the factor \(\varepsilon\) in the \(y\)-direction to obtain the squeezed domain \(\Omega_{\varepsilon}=\{(x,\varepsilon y)\mid (x,y)\in\Omega\}\), and \(f\) is a dissipative nonlinearity of polynomial growth. The authors show that, as \(\varepsilon\rightarrow0\), the problem has a limiting problem which is an abstract semilinear parabolic equation defined on a closed linear subspace of \(H^{1}(\Omega)\). They also prove that the family of the corresponding attractors is upper semicontinuous at \(\varepsilon=0\).
