Be given a continuous semiflow on a compact metric space \(X\), defined by a continuous map \(\phi:\mathbb R^+\times X\longrightarrow X\) such that, for every \(t\in \mathbb R^+\), \(\phi_t:=\phi(t,.): X\longrightarrow X\) is surjective, we can define a continuous flow, which is canonically associated to \((X,\phi)\), in the following way: put \(\overline{X}=\{\overline{x}=(x_{t})_{t\in \mathbb R}: x_{t}\in X,\;x_t=\phi_{t-s}(x_s),\;s\leq t\}\), and consider the metric \(\overline{d}\), defined by \(\overline{d}(\overline{x},\overline{y})= \sum_{i=-\infty}^{+\infty}d(x_{i},y_{i})/2^{| i| },\;\text{with} \;\overline{x}=(x_{t})\;\text{and}\;\overline{y}=(y_{t})\;\text{in}\;\overline{X}\). The space \((\overline{X},\overline{d})\) is compact and a continuous flow \(\overline{\phi}:\mathbb R\times \overline{X}\rightarrow \overline{X}\) is defined on \(\overline{X}\) by \ \(\overline{\phi}(t,(x_{s}))=(x_{t+s}).\) The continuous flow \((\overline{X},\overline{\phi})\) is called the inverse limit determined by \((X,\phi)\). Among others, the authors prove the following main results: (1) there is a canonical homeomorphism \(h: M(\overline{X},\overline{\phi})\rightarrow M(X,\phi)\) defined between the respective spaces of all invariant Borel probability measures; (2) \(\overline{\mu}\in M(\overline{X},\overline{\phi})\) is ergodic (resp. weak mixing, strong mixing) iff \(h(\mu)\in M(X,\phi)\) is ergodic (resp. weak mixing, strong mixing); (3) the set of almost periodic (resp. weakly almost periodic, recurrent, chain recurrent) points of \((\overline{X},\overline{\phi})\) is the inverse limit of the set of almost periodic (resp. weakly almost periodic, recurrent, chain recurrent) points of \((X,\phi)\).
