This short survey aims to provide an accessible introduction to a sophisticated circle of ideas involving concentration of measures, transformation groups, and Ramsey theory. The theory outlined has been shaped by work of \textit{P. Lévy} [``Leçons d'analyse fonctionnelle'' (1922; JFM 48.0453.01)], \textit{V. D. Milman} [Funct. Anal. Appl. 5, 288--295 (1971); translation from Funkts. Anal. Prilozh. 5, No.~4, 28--37 (1971; Zbl 0239.46018); Astérisque 157--158, 273--301 (1988; Zbl 0681.46021)] and \textit{M. Gromov} and \textit{V.
