Let \(k\) be a field of characteristic different from 2 and \(G\) a group of type \(G_2\). Denote by \(\alpha_1\) and \(\alpha_2\) the two simple roots of the group. In this article, the two homogeneous varieties \(X(\alpha_1)\) and \(X(\alpha_2)\) associated to the roots are studied. They are not isomorphic, however, it is shown that they become isomorphic in the category of Chow motives.
