Let \(X, Y\) be Banach spaces and let \(E_{X}\) denote the set of extreme points of the closed unit ball. An operator \(T \in {\mathcal L}(X,Y)\) is said to be nice if \(T^\ast (E_{Y^\ast}) \subset E_{X^\ast}\). \(X\) is said to have property \((E)\) if for every \(x^\ast \in E_{X^\ast}\) and for every \(x \in E_{X}\), \(| x^\ast(x)| \)=1. In this paper, the authors show that when the unit ball of \(X\) is the norm closed convex hull of its extreme points and \(X,Y\) have property \((E)\), then \(T\) is nice if and only if \(T(E_{X}) \subset E_{Y}\). {Reviewer's remark:} The reviewer has studied property \((E)\) for spaces of operators in [\textit{T. S. S. R. K. Rao}, Lect. Notes Pure Appl. Math. 172, 339--346 (1995; Zbl 0868.46011)]. In this paper, it was shown that under the same conditions as above on \(X\), when \(Y = C(K)\) for a compact extremally disconnected set \(K\), every operator in \(E_{{\mathcal L}(X, C(K))}\) is nice and \({\mathcal L}(X,C(K))\) has the property \((E)\).
