Weak \(n\)-categories: Opetopic and multitopic foundations. (Q1421253)

The author compares two of the many approaches to weak \(n\)-categories: the approach based on opetopes due to Baez and Dolan, and the approach based on multitopes due to Hermida, Makkai and Power. Opetopes are based on symmetric operads with sets of objects; the author extends this theory by using symmetric operads with categories of objects. She then gives an explicit relationship between opetopes and multitopes, and shows that they are essentially the same up to isomorphism.
