Let \(\mathfrak{g}\) be a semi-simple complex finite-dimensional Lie algebra and \(U=U_q(\mathfrak{g})\) be the corresponding quantum group. There are several different bases in the negative part \(U^{-}\) of \(U\). The two relevant for the present paper are Lusztig's canonical basis and the monomial basis, the latter being introduced by the second author [\textit{M. Reineke}, Math. Z. 237, 639--667 (2001; Zbl 1038.17008)]. The construction of the monomial basis is based on the representation theory of quivers. In the (very interesting) paper under review it is shown that there is a link between the combinatorics of the canonical basis and the monomial basis. Namely, it is shown that some reparametrization functions, associated with the canonical basis, are given on a large cone by linear functions arising from the monomial basis. As a corollary one obtains that the reparametrization functions above are linear on Lusztig's cone, which was known previously only for types \(A_i\), \(i=1,2,3,4\).
