    Let \(T_x f\) and \(M_\omega f\) denote the translation \(T_x f(t)=f(t-x)\) and the modulation \(M_\omega f (t)=e^{2\pi i\omega t} f(t)\) operators, respectively, and let \(V_g (x, \omega)=\int_{\mathbb{R}^d} f(t)\overline{g(t-x)}e^{-2\pi i\omega t}dt\) denote the short-time Fourier transform of \(f\in {\mathcal S}^\prime (\mathbb{R}^d) \) with respect to the window \(g\in S(\mathbb{R}^d)\). The time frequency localization operator \(A_a^{\varphi_1,\varphi_2}\) with symbol \(a\) and windows \(\varphi_1,\varphi_2\) is defined as \(A_a^{\varphi_1,\varphi_2}f(t)=\int_{\mathbb{R}^{2d}}a(x,\omega) V_{\varphi_1}f(x,\omega) M_\omega T_x \varphi_2 (t)dx d\omega.\) The authors give necessary and sufficient conditions for \(A_a^{\varphi_1,\varphi_2}\) to be bounded or to belong to a Schatten class.
