Of concern is a second order nonlocal parabolic equation of conservative type that shares the same stationary solutions as the fourth order model system arising in the micro-phase separation of diblock copolymer melts. The paper includes the study of the limiting behavior of the solution for this equation, as a small parameter \(\varepsilon\) in the right-hand side tends to zero. The authors give a rigorous derivation of the limit problem in the case of spherical symmetry. It is shown how starting from the PDE system one obtains the limiting free boundary problem where the interface motion is partly induced by its mean curvature.
