Order one invariants of immersions of surfaces into 3-space (Q1423615)

Order one Vassiliev invariants of immersions of a closed orientable surface into \(3\)-space with values in any Abelian group are classified. The group of order one invariants with values in \(G\) on any regular homotopy class of immersions is isomorphic to the direct sum of the group of all functions from a countably infinite set into \(G\) and two copies of the kernel of multiplication by \(2\) in \(G\). The result is applied to produce an equation satisfied by the numbers of non-generic instances of various types in any generic sphere eversion.
