Let \(S^d\) be the unit shere of \(R^{d+1}\) and \(B^d\) the unit ball of \(R^d\). Let \(\Pi_n^d\) denote the space of polynomials of degree at most \(n\) in \(R^d\), whose dimension is \(M_n^d={{n+d}\choose d}\). Finally let \(\Pi_n(S^d)\) denote the space of spherical polynomials of \(d+1\) variables, which are the restriction of polynomials in \(\Pi_n^{d+1}\) on \(S^d\). The dimension of this space is \[ N_n^d={{n+d}\choose d}+{{n+d-1}\choose d}. \] The author of this paper shows that the interpolation problem defined by \(N_n^d\) points on \(S^d\) and \(\Pi_n(S^d)\) as interpolation space is related to the problem defined by \(M_n^d\) points in \(B^d\) and \(\Pi_n^d\) as interpolation space. In fact he shows that some sets of \(M_n^d\) points of \(B^d\) allowing unique polynomial interpolation in \(\Pi_n^d\) can be used to generate sets of points of \(S^d\) adequate for interpolation in \(\Pi_n(S^d)\). Some examples come from a previous paper by \textit{B. Bojanov} and \textit{Y. Xu} [SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 39, No. 5, 1780--1793 (2002; Zbl 1014.41002)] where points are located on several circles with an odd number of nodes each. In the present paper it is also shown that the case of an even number of points on each circle is related to interpolation on the standard triangle and to the spaces considered by \textit{C. de Boor} and \textit{A. Ron} in a paper introducing the concept of least interpolation [see Math. Z. 210, No. 3, 347--378 (1992; Zbl 0735.41001)].
