On Chernavskij's theorem. (Q1425745)

Chernavskij's theorem states that \(\dim B_f\leq n-2\) for any discrete open mapping \(f\) of \(n\)-manifolds with \(n\geq 2\). Here \(B_f\) denotes the set of branching points of \(f\), i.e., the set of points where \(f\) is not a local homeomorphism and dim denotes the topological dimension. The authors obtain some results similar to Chernavskij's theorem and use the embedding dimension \(\dim_E\).
