Oscillation criteria for the damped nonlinear second-order differential equation \[ (r(t)y')'+p(t)y'+ q(t)f(y)=0 \tag{\(*\)} \] are established. It is supposed that \(r,p,q\) are continuous functions, \(r(t)>0\), \(f\) is continuously differentiable, \(uf(u)\neq 0\) and \(f'(u)\geq \mu>0\) for \(u\neq 0\). Recently, several oscillation criteria for \((*)\) and related equations have appeared, which involve integrals of the form \(\int_l^t (s-l)^\alpha q(s)\,ds\) and \(\int_l^t (t-s)^\alpha q(s)\,ds\) for any \(l\) sufficiently large, see e.g., \textit{W. T. Li} and \textit{R. P. Agarwal} [Comput. Math. Appl. 40, 217--230 (2000; Zbl 0959.34026)], and the references given therein. In the reviewed paper, the author introduces a function of 3 variables \(\Phi(t,s,r)\) which plays the role of the functions \((s-l)^\alpha\) and \((t-s)^\alpha\) and enables one to incorporate the above two conditions into only one integral condition involving the function \(\Phi\). A number of corollaries and examples illustrate the obtained oscillation criteria.
