Surfaces in \(\mathbb{P}^{6}\) are expected to have a one-dimensional family of trisecant lines. Special surfaces may have a larger family of trisecant lines or no trisecant lines at all. In this interesting paper, the authors study the second situation. Among the surfaces without trisecant lines, those cut out by quadrics constitute the more natural examples. The authors give a complete list of such surfaces, distinguishing those containing lines from those with no lines. The authors also produce three classes of surfaces not cut out by quadrics, not containing lines and having no trisecant lines. They prove that the list of examples just obtained covers all possible sets of invariants of surfaces without trisecant lines and formulate the conjecture that every surface without trisecant lines appears in the list.
