Let \((E,\|\cdot\|)\) be a Banach space and \(K\subset E\) a closed convex cone. Suppose that there is given a mapping \(B: E\times E\to\mathbb{R}\) such that (1) \(B(\lambda x,y)=\lambda B(x,y)\) for any \(\lambda> 0\) and any \(x,y\in E\), (2) \(B(x,x)> 0\) for any \(x\in E\), \(x\neq 0\). In the present paper, the authors prove, among other things, the following Theorem 6.1. If \(f: E\to E\) is \(\alpha\)-condensing \(f(K)\subseteq K\) and \[ \limsup_{\substack{\| x\|\to +\infty\\ x\in K}} {B(f(x),x)\over B(x,x)}< 1, \] then \(f\) has a fixed point in \(K\). They also establish some relations between this Altman type fixed point theorem and the scalar derivatives.
