    The hyperbolic Cauchy problem \(u_t +A(u)u_x =0\), \(u|_{t=0}=\) \(\Phi (x)\), is considered near the semi-line \(x>0\), \(u\in \mathbb{R}^n\). With \(\lambda_i (u)\), \(i=1,2,\dots,n,\) standing for the eigenvalues of \(A(u),\) it is assumed that \(\lambda_j (0)<\) \(\lambda_n (0)\) for \(j=1,2,\dots,n-1\) and \(\nabla_u \lambda_n (u)\cdot\) \(r_n (u)=0\) for small \(|u|\) along the trajectory \(u=\) \(u^{(n)}(s)\) given by the Cauchy problem \(du/ds=\) \(r_n (u)\), \(u|_{s=0}=0\). Here \(r_i (u)\) is the right eigen vectors of \(A(u)\). Denote \(\theta =\) \(\sup_{x>o}\) \(\{(1+x)^{1+\mu}(|\Phi (x)|+|\Phi ' (x)|)\}\), where \(\mu >0\) is a constant. If \(\theta\) is small enough, the Cauchy problem has a unique classical solution in some vicinity of the semi-line \(x>0\).
