    This article deals with the degree theory for \(SO(2)\)-equivariant transversal continuous maps \(f: V \to V\) (\(V = ({\mathbb R}^n,\rho)\), \(\rho: SO(2) \to O(n,{\mathbb R}^n)\); \(f\) is \(SO(2)\)-equivariant if \(fg = gf\) (\(g \in SO(2))\); \(f\) is transversal if \(f(v) \neq 0, v \neq 0\) implies that \(\text{rank} \, \{f(v),v\} = 2\)). The degree of \(f: V \to V\) is defined by the formula \[ \text{deg} \, (f,\Omega) = \text{deg} \, (f_0,\Omega) \in {\mathbb Z} \oplus \left(\bigoplus_{i=1}^\infty {\mathbb Z}\right), \] where \(f_0\) is a mapping \(V \to V\) homotopic to \(f\) and satisfying the condition \((f(v),v) = 0\), \(v \in V\) (such mappings always do exist); the degree \(\text{deg} \, (f_0,\Omega)\) is defined and studied in [\textit{S. Rybicki}, Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl. 23, 83--102 (1994; Zbl 0815.58027)]. Further, the basic properties of equivariant degree are obtained and the formula for \(\text{deg} \, (f,\Omega)\) in the case of linear \(f\) is presented. In the final section, some applications to the analysis of bifurcations of zeros for a family of \(SO(2)\)-equivariant transversal maps are discussed.
