The articles of this volume will not be indexed individually. This volume contains a collection of six papers on computational aspects of argumentation theory, argumentation schemata and argumentation techniques that were originally written in the course of a symposium on `Argument and Computation' in Scotland in the year 2000. After an introductory overview of argumentation and computation from the perspective of artificial intelligence, the second contribution deals with the relevance of argument theory for multi-agent systems. The third paper provides a theoretical and computational perspective on argumentation schemes and techniques for decision support systems, while the fourth paper covers the role of argumentation for legal practice. The fifth contribution considers the embedding of computational models of argumentation and an application scenario for a hypothetical persuasion machine. The final chapter discusses a computational model of argumentation based on rhetorics.
