Recall that the first edition of this outstanding monograph (1993) was reviewed in Zbl 0894.00006. In the decade since that earlier edition, much progress has been made in quantum-theoretical and atomic-theoretical interpretations of complex situations in neuroscience, neurotechnology, and psychiatry. Indeed, while remaining within the physical framework of Von Neumann's ``Process I'', the author develops new chapters on many findings of recent research on the mind-body problem as well as their extrapolation to new and difficult technical and social areas.
