This paper shows once more that Hecke groups share more arithmetic properties with the elliptic modular group than usually expected. The main result is a class of explicit (finite, polynomial) relations between special values of the \(j\)-function for the Hecke group. This \(j\)-function is defined similar to the elliptic modular invariant, and the arguments for the special values correspond to a divisor of an arbitrary automorphic function \(f\) for the Hecke group. The constants involved in the formula depend on a product expansion of \(f\). They are rational for the arithmetic Hecke groups and transcendental for the non-arithmetic ones.
