    For a non-degenerate \(n\times n\) real matrix \(X\) set \(\Phi (X)=X\circ (X^{-1})^T\) where \(\circ\) stands for the Hadamard (entrywise) product. The mapping \(\Phi\) arises in optimal control theory in chemical engineering design problems. Suppose that at least one of the real non-degenerate \(n\times n\)-matrices \(A\), \(B\), \(C\), \(D\) is a solution to the equation \((*)\) \(\Phi (X)=\frac{1}{n}J_n\) where \(J_n\) is the all-one \(n\times n\)-matrix. Then the matrix \(M=\left( \begin{matrix} A&B \\ {C}&D\end{matrix} \right)\) is a real solution to the equation \(\Phi (X)=\frac{1}{2n}J_{2n}\) if and only if \(AC^{-1}+BD^{-1}=0\) and each matrix \(A\), \(B\), \(C\), \(D\) is a real solution to \((*)\). As application all real solutions to equation \((*)\) with \(n=4\) are given (as well as new solutions for \(n=2n_1\), \(n_1\in {\mathbb N}\)). The paper uses results of \textit{X. Zhang, Z. Yang} and \textit{C. Cao} [SIAM J. Matrix Anal. Appl. 21, No.2, 642-645 (2000; Zbl 0957.15010)] and of \textit{Y. Chen} [SIAM J. Matrix Anal. Appl. 22, 965-970 (2001; Zbl 0979.15008)].
