The authors study a special class of conservation laws with discontinuous flux functions that can be associated to the limit case of phase transition. They firstly consider the scalar case and show that a weak entropy solution to the Cauchy problem can be nonunique. Some estimate based on the Kruzhkov's method is also derived. Then, the authors pass to discontinuous \(p\)-systems and establish existence of entropy weak solutions to the Riemann problem, by applying a variant of the regularization method introduced by \textit{C. M.~Dafermos} [Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 52, 1--9 (1973; Zbl 0262.35034)].
