The authors formulate a constitutive model to describe the pseudoelastic behaviour of shape memory alloys under proportional and nonproportional loadings. To this end they introduce the concept of two-phase transformation surfaces, the one for the forward phase transformation \(A\to M\) and the other one for the reverse phase transformation \(M\to A\). An equivalent transformation strain is defined, in order to determine the martensite volumic fraction, from the transformation strain tensor.
