In the authors' previous paper [Int. J. Solids Struct. 40, No. 24, 6781--6797 (2003; Zbl 1074.74027)], a system of four integro-differential equations was obtained for a coupled electromechanical static analysis of a piezoelectric thin layer with poling direction perfectly bonded to a half-infinite elastic substrate. By using an algoritm that synthesises the finite difference and numerical quadrature schemes, the four governing equations are reduced to a system of algebraic equations. The coefficients of these equations are functions of material constants, geometric parameters, the number of discrete points and the voltage applied to the actuator. Some numerical examples are reported for a piezoelectric layer acting as a sensor or an actuator. The convergence of the algorithm is discussed on examples.
