According to \textit{A. Weinstein} [J. Differ. Geom. 18, 523--557 (1983; Zbl 0524.58011)], around a singular point \(p\), a Poisson manifold \(M\) splits locally as the product of a symplectic manifold and of a Poisson manifold of rank 0 at the point, the so-called \textit{transverse} Poisson structure which is uniquely determined up to diffeomorphism. When the manifold \(M\) is the dual \(\mathfrak g^*\) of the Lie algebra of some Lie group, then the symplectic manifold is the coadjoint orbit of \(p\) and the question arises to know whether or not the transverse Poisson structure is isomorphic to that of the dual \({\mathfrak g}_p^*\) of the Lie algebra of the isotropy group of \(p\). (If this holds, the transverse structure is said to be linear, or linearized.) In this situation, the transverse manifold could be choosen under the form \(N=p+{\mathfrak h}^\circ\), where \(\mathfrak h\) is any supplementary subspace of \(\mathfrak g_p\) in \(\mathfrak g\) and \({\mathfrak h}^\circ\) is its anihilator in \(\mathfrak g^*\). Theorem 2 of the paper under review describes explicitely the transverse Poisson structure induced on such an \(N\). It allows to prove a result of Molino according to which the transverse structure is linear if \([\mathfrak g_p,\mathfrak h]\subset \mathfrak h\). It is also shown that when the Lie algebra \(\mathfrak g\) has an invariant symmetric bilinear form \(K\), this condition is fulfilled by the \(K\)-orthogonal complement of \(\mathfrak g_p\) provided that \(K\) is nondegenerate on \(\mathfrak g_p\) (theorem 4). In particular, using the Killing form, it is deduced that the transverse Poisson structures in the dual of a semisimple Lie algebra of compact type can always be linearized. The results of the paper are illustrated by explicit computations of the transverse structure on \(\mathfrak{so}(4)\) and \(\mathfrak{sp}(4)\).
