In his article the author discusses the dynamics of a braneworld with induced gravity, a so-called DGP model (here, DGP stands for ``Dvali, Gabadadze and Porrati'', who introduced such a model for the first time with the key idea being the inclusion of a four-dimensional Ricci scalar into the action). It is shown that in contrast to the Randall-Sundrum II (RSII) braneworld, which modifies general relativity at early times and then recovers it at late times, the DGP braneworld is like general relativity in the early epoch of the universe but modifies the dynamics at late times. The author uses some approximations to solve the DGP Friedmann equation in both the early and the late epoch. The conditions for acceleration in the DGP model are derived. It is shown that at early times, the DGP Friedmann equation approaches the standard general relativity limit. Modifications appear only at late times. The author also analyzes the phase planes for a range of potentials which are used to describe inflation, quintessence and cold dark matter and compares the dynamics in the DGP case to the RSII, as well as to the standard case.
