Let \(K\) be an affine subspace of \(\mathbb R^n\). Let \(h\in \mathbb R^n\), and let \(h_p\) be the best \(l_p\) approximation to \(h\) from \(K\). Let \(h^*\) be the best ``natural'' approximation to \(h\) from \(K\). This paper shows that \[ h_p \to h^* \;\;\text{ as } \;\;p \to 1 \] by showing that \(h_p\) has a Taylor expansion of the form \(h^*\) plus a term that goes to zero with \(p-1\).
