The importance of the study of manifolds admitting rough diffeomorphisms with additional constraints is based on the fact that rough diffeomorphisms form a nonempty open set in the space of diffeomorphisms. It is also natural to investigate the topological structure of the underlying manifold and to consider the classification problem from the point of view of topological conjugacy. One of the principal results of the paper is concerned with the structure of the underlying manifold and can be stated as follows: For a rough diffeomorphism of an \(n\)-dimensional, \(n\geq3\), closed manifold \(M\) whose nonwandering set contains an orientable expanding attractor or contracting repeller \(\Omega\) of codimension one, the following hold: (i) the manifold \(M\) is homotopically equivalent to the torus; (ii) \(\Omega\) is a unique nontrivial basic set for the diffeomorphism \(f;\) (iii) there exists at least one trivial basic set that is a repeller (if \(\Omega\) is an attractor) or an attractor (if \(\Omega\) is a repeller). This result gives rise to the problem of topological classification of rough diffeomorphisms with orientable expanding attractors or contracting repellers of codimension one on the torus \(T^{n},n\geq3,\) which involves three stages. First, a complete topological invariant determining classes of topological conjugacy is constructed. Then admissible invariants are specified. Finally, for a given admissible invariant, a standard representative (that is, diffeomorphism with this invariant) is constructed.
