The paper studies complex polynomials in two variables with only one critical value (bifurcation value). The bifurcation set \(B\) is the minimal set of values such that the restriction \(\mathbb{C}^2-f^{-1}(B) \to \mathbb{C}-B\) is a locally trivial fibration. The author gives a complete classification of reduced polynomials with one critical value, modulo topological equivalence. There are three cases to be treated: if the critical value is ``affine'' if it is at infinity, and if both is fulfilled. Results and methods of Abhyankar-Moh and Zaidenberg-Lin are used to study the problem modulo algebraic equivalence, then resolutions of singularities are used to obtain the topological classification.
