\textit{A. A. Beilinson} [in: Applications of algebraic \(K\)-theory to algebraic geometry and number theory. Contemp. Math. 55, 35--68 (1986; Zbl 0621.14011)] showed that Beilinson-Deligne cohomology can be interpreted as absolute Hodge cohomology, i.e. as Ext-groups in the derived category of mixed Hodge structures. The author proves an analogous result for \(p\)-adic cohomology theories. Let \(K\) be a finite extension of \(\mathbb Q_p\) with ring of integers \(O_K\). The analogue of Beilinson-Deligne cohomology is given by syntomic cohomology, first defined by \textit{M. Gros} [Invent. Math. 115, 61--79 (1994; Zbl 0799.14010)] and fully developped by \textit{A. Besser} [Isr. J. Math 120, 291--334 (2000; Zbl 1001.19003)]. The main result of the paper relates the rigid syntomic cohomology of a smooth scheme \(X\) of finite type over \(O_K\) with coefficients in \(K(n)\) to Ext-groups in the derived category of the category of weakly admissible filtered modules in the sense of \textit{J.-M. Fontaine} [Astérisque 65, 3--80 (1979; Zbl 0429.14016)].
