Consider the equation \[ y_{n+1}=A+y_n/y_{n-k},\quad n=0,1,\dots,\tag{\(*\)} \] where \(y_{-k},\dots,y_{-1},\) \(y_0,A\in (0,\infty )\) and \(k\in \{2,3,4,\dots\}.\) The authors prove the following Theorem: If \(A>1,\) then the unique positive equilibrium \(y^{*}=1+A\) of equation (\(*\)) is globally asymptotically stable. The condition \(A>1\) is improved to \(A>(\sqrt{5}-1)/2\) for the case \(k=2,\) and to \(A>\frac 23+\frac{(h-2)^2}{3h}\) for the case \(k=3,\) where \(h=(19+3\sqrt{33})^{1/3}.\)
