A semigroup \(S\) is called an rpp semigroup if its principal ideals are projective as right \(S^1\)-systems. If the idempotents of an rpp semigroup are central, it is called a C-rpp semigroup. A strongly rpp semigroup \(S\) is defined as rpp and, for each \(a\in S\), there exists a unique idempotent \(e\in S\) such that \(ea= a\), \(S^1a\subset S^1e\), and \(ax=ay\Rightarrow ex= ey\) for all \(x,y\in S^1\). An rpp semigroup \(S\) is called right C-rpp if \({\mathcal L}^*\vee{\mathcal R}\) is a congruence on \(S\) and \(Se\subset eS\) for all idempotents \(e\). Here \(\mathcal R\) is the familiar Green relation on \(S\) while \({\mathcal L}^*\) is a generalization of the Green \(\mathcal L\)-relation first considered by \textit{Eh. G. Shutov} [in Uch. Zap., Leningr. Gos. Pedagog. Inst. 166, 75-103 (1958)], then, in a different context, by the reviewer, and later by other researchers. \textit{Y.-Q. Guo}, who introduced right C-rpp semigroups [Chin. Sci. Bull. 42, No. 19, 1599-1603 (1997; Zbl 0903.20035)], characterized them as semilattices of direct products of a left cancellative monoid with a right zero semigroup. The authors improve this result making the semilattice decomposition more precise (involving a system of connecting maps). They produce an example of an infinite right C-rpp semigroup.
