The authors consider the operator \((-\Delta)^m\), \(m\geq 1\) on \(\mathbb{R}^n_+:=\{x=(x_1,\dots,x_n)\in\mathbb{R}^n:x_n>0\}\), \(n\geq 2\), with Dirichlet boundary conditions \(\left(\frac{\partial}{\partial x_n}\right)^j u=0\), \(0\leq j\leq m-1\). The expression of the Green function \(G_{m,n}\) of this operator is given in the paper. Next some estimates on \(G_{m,n}\) are established, including a 3G-Theorem. Then the Kato class of functions \(K_{m,n}^{\infty}(\mathbb{R}^n_{+})\) is introduced and properties of these functions are investigated to study the existence of positive solutions of some \(m\)-polyharmonic nonlinear elliptic problems.
