Let \(X \subset \mathbb{C}\mathbb{P}^{2n}\) be an integral \(n\)-dimensional va riety and \(TX \subseteq \mathbb{C}\mathbb{P}^{2n}\) its tangential variety. Assume \(TX = \mathbb{C}\mathbb{P}^{2n}\). Hence for a general \((x,y)\in X\times X\) the projective tangent spaces \(T_xX\) and \(T_yY\) meet in one point \(P(x,y)\). The main result of this paper is that the rational map \((x,y) \to P(x,y)\) is dominant, i.e. a general \(P\in \mathbb{C}\mathbb{P}^{2n}\) is uniquely determined by the ramification locus of the linear projection \(X \to \mathbb{C}\mathbb{P}^{2n-1}\) from \(P\). As a corollary the authors obtain that in this case the Stückrad-Vogel cycle has maximal transcendental degree. See \textit{H. Flenner} and\textit{M. Manaresi} [Math. Nachr. 194, 79--92 (1998; Zbl 0939.14007)], and \textit{H. Flenner, L. O'Carroll} and \textit{W. Vogel} [``Joins and intersections'', Monographs in Mathematics, Springer, Berlin (1999; Zbl 0939.14003)], for background and older works on this topic.
