The aim of the paper is to present a stochastic Monte Carlo model for the calculation of radiative transfer within a sooty turbulent ethylene-air diffusion jet flame in order to avoid the assumptions that the usual methods require. As a continuation of the authors' previous work [\textit{L. Tessé, F. Dupoirieux, B. Zamuner} and \textit{J. Taine}, Int. J. Heat Mass Transfer. 45, No. 13, 2797--2814 (2002; Zbl 1028.80504)] in the present paper the Monte Carlo approaches in use are generalized to the calculation of TRI effects in turbulent sooty flames, considering as emitting, absorbing but non-scattering media, typical of reactive flows in some industrial combustors from the points of view of radiation emission and turbulent intensity. In particular, in the TRI modeling, the radiative properties of the assumed homogeneous turbulent structures are randomly obtained from a multidimensional probability density function (PDF) of the reaction progress variable, of the mixture ratio and of the soot volume fraction which is obtained from an Eulerian-Lagrangian turbulent combustion model and the sizes of the turbulent structures are derived from a \(k\)-\(\epsilon\) model. Moreover gas radiative properties are calculated with a CK model involving more than 1000 pseudo-spectral points while the influence of TRI and the soot particles are discussed.
