For the purpose of this paper, the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory is assumed to be adequate to model the beam. The centre of gravity of rigid payload is not coincident with the point of attachment. The degree of the offset of the centre of gravity from the point of attachment is reflected in the derivation using three spatial coordinates. The beam is assumed to experience both torsional deformation and planar elastic bending deformation; the analysis is limited to small deformations. It is shown that the derived frequency equation degenerates to that for a simple beam for various classical boundary conditions.
