The work uses a plane strain unit cell model to analyze uniformly distributed inclusions. The author finds for a circular inclusion in a square cell, that increased triaxiality causes initial debonding to occur at significantly reduced overall strain. He shows that the debonding process is much faster than in any other case analyzed. Knowledge of the microstructure of a material can therefore be used to determine the expected fracture behaviour. For a mixed geometric and plastic anisotropic problem it is found that the plastic anisotropy affects the onset of void nucleation, whereas the geometrical anisotropy has a stronger influence on the stress-strain response after debonding initiation.
