Die Aufgabe ist, zu zwei gegebenen symmetrischen Matrizen \(m\) und \(M\) von \(n + 1\) Zeilen und Spalten eine symmetrische Matrix \(p\) zu finden, so daß \[ pmp = M \] ist. Verf. leitet \textit{Terracinis} Lösung dieser Gleichung her unter Benutzung der Wurzeln der Gleichung niedrigsten Grades für \(Mm\), nach einer Bemerkung von \textit{Frobenius}. (II 2.)
