    Hat man eine Lösung \(x,y,z\) von \[ x^2+y^2=z^2, \] so muß\ z. B. \(x\) gerade, \(y\) und \(z\) ungerade sein. Setzt man \[ x=\frac{p-q}{2},\quad z=\frac{p+q}{2}, \] so wird \[ y^2=p\cdot q \] oder da \(p\) und \(q\) teilerfremd, \(p=r^2\), \(q=s^2\), also, wie bekannt: \[ z=\frac{r^2-s^2}{2},\quad y=rs,\quad z=\frac{r^2+s^2}{2}. \]
