      Der Verf. berechnet der Reihe nach: \[ \begin{aligned} & (1) \quad \quad \int_{0}^{\infty}\frac{a\cos cx}{a^{2}+x^{2}}\;dx=\tfrac{1}{2}\pi e^{-ac}, \quad (2) \quad \int_{0}^{\infty}\frac{a^{2}\sin cx}{x(a^{2}+x^{2})}\;dx=\tfrac{1}{2}\pi(1-e^{-ac}),\\ & (3) \quad \quad \int_{0}^{\infty}\frac{x\sin cx}{a^{2}+x^{2}}\;dx= \tfrac{1}{2}\pi e^{-ac}.\end{aligned} \] Die Addition von (2) und (3) gibt \(\int_{0}^{\infty}\frac{\sin cx}{x}=\frac{1}{2}\pi\). -- Eine andere Methode, die dem Verf. von \textit{J. H. Michell} mitgeteilt wurde, ist noch kürzer und eleganter; ihrem Wesen nach kommt sie auf das Verfahren der Integration auf einem geschlossenen Wege zurück.
