Es wird der Ordnungstypus des Linearkontinuums ähnlich wie bei \textit{Cantor} definiert. Nur wird das \textit{Cantor}sche Postulat, daß\ das Linearkontinuum eine überall dichte abzählbare Teilmenge besitzt, durch ein anderes ersetzt. Die Äquivalenz dieses Postulats mit dem \textit{Cantor}schen wird mit Hülfe des sogenannten \textit{Heine-Borel}-Theorems nachgewiesen.
