Der Inhalt möge durch die folgenden beiden Sätze der Abhandlung kurz angedeutet werden: Jedes beliebige totale Differential erster Art bezüglich der Doppelebene \(z^2 = \psi(x,y)\) muß von der Form sein: \[ \frac{P_1dx + Q_1dy + F(ydx-xdy)}{\sqrt{\psi}}, \] wo \(P_1\) und \(Q_1\) Polynome höchstens vom Grade \(p-1\) in \(x\) und \(y\) sind, und wo \(F\) eine binäre Form von \(x\) und \(y\) vom Grade \(p-1\) bedeutet, die sich eventuell auf Null reduzieren kann. Mau kann auch kurz sagen, es muß ein derartiges totales Differential die Form \[ \frac{Pdx + Qdy}{\sqrt{\psi}} \] haben, wo \(P\) und \(Q\) höchstens vom Grade \(p\) sind, während \(\psi\) vom Grade \(2p+2\) ist. Wenn die Fläche \(z^2 = \psi(x,y)\) das totale Differential erster Art \[ \frac{Pdx + Qdy}z \] besitzt und das allgemeine Integral der Differentialgleichung \[ Pdx + Qdy = 0 \] von der Form \(\lambda = R(x,y)\) ist, wo \(R\) eine rationale Funktion und \(\lambda\) eine willkürliche Konstante bedeutet, so enthält die Fläche ein elliptisches oder hyperelliptisches Kurvenbündel usf.
