In Crelle's Journal für 1844 und 1845 hat Eisenstein ohne Beweis Kettenbrüche aufgestellt für \[ 1+\frac{x}{R}+\frac{x^2}{R^4}+\frac{x^3}{R^9}+\frac{x^4}{R^{16}}+\ldots\frac{(1-x)(1-px)(1-p^2x)\ldots}{(1-y)(1-py)(1-p^2y)\ldots} \] und noch andere Ausdrücke. Diese Formeln beweist der Verfasser.
