Der Satz sagt: In dem Zahlensystem mit der Basis \(r\) sei \[ \frac{1}{(r-1)^2}\,=0,0123\cdots (r-3)(r-1). \] Die Periode besteht aus allen Zahlen der Reihe nach, \(r-2\) ausgenommen, welches übergangen wird; z. B. ist in der gewöhnlichen Zahlenreihe \(\frac{1}{81}=0,012345679\).
