The authors extend and generalize results for two-dimensional interfaces of Gaussian SOS type of \textit{F. Dunlop}, \textit{J. Maguen}, \textit{V. Rivasseau} and \textit{P. Roche} [J. Stat. Phys. 66, No. 1/2, 71-98 (1992)] and \textit{Bolthausen} and \textit{Brydges} [Gaussian surface pinned by a weak potential (to appear in: Proc. Conf. The state of art in probability in statistics, IMS Lect. Notes, Ch. Klassen (ed.)] to the non-Gaussian case. They prove localization of the interface for finite-range, strictly convex interactions with arbitrarily weak square well and \(\delta\) self-potentials. They also derive the tail behaviour of the height distribution, which is not Gaussian. The basic tool is the Brascamp-Lieb inequality.
