Riemann's famous rearrangement theorem states that in the real line \(\mathbb R\) the domain of sums of convergent rearrangements of series are either single points or coincide with the whole line. Levy-Steinitz extended this theorem in \(\mathbb R^n\). \textit{W.} and M. Banaszczyk proved in [\textit{W. Banaszczyk}, J. Reine Angew. Math. 403, 187-200 (1990; Zbl 0682.46002) and \textit{M. Banaszczyk} and \textit{W. Banaszczyk}, Math. Z. 186, 125-133 (1984; Zbl 0539.46003)] that a metrizable locally convex space is nuclear if and only if the domain of sums of every convergent series (i.e. the set of all elements in the space which are sums of a convergent rearrangement of the series) is a translate of a closed subspace of a special form. \textit{M.-J. Chasco} and \textit{S. Chobanyan} [Mich. Math. J. 44, No. 3, 607-617 (1997; Zbl 0890.40001)] considered this problem for locally convex spaces, but in spite of this fact ``Steinitz-type problem for locally convex spaces are poorly investigated''. In this paper a complete analysis of the domains of sums of convergent series in duals of metrizable spaces are presented. In particular, the Levy-Steinitz theorem in its original formulation does not holds in the dual of a nuclear metrizable space unless this space is equal to the trivial \((DF)\)-space \(\varphi\).
