The paper considers rational cuspidal curves \(C\) in \(\mathbb{P}^2=\mathbb{P}^2_\mathbb{C}\) with 1 or 2 cusps, i.e. singularities that are analytically irreducible. Such a curve is said to be of type \((d,k)\) if \(d=\deg C\) and \(k=\max \{\text{mult}_p (C)|P\in C\}\). By results of \textit{H. Flenner} and \textit{M. Zaidenberg} [see Manuscr. Math. 89, No. 4, 439-459 (1996; Zbl 0868.14014) and Math. Nachr. 210, 93-110 (2000; Zbl 0948.14020)] one can classify all rational cuspidal plane curves with at least 3 cusps of type \((d,d-2)\) and \((d,d-3)\). In the present paper the author gives such a classification for curves with 1 or 2 cusps. To prove his result he studies carefully the possible multiplicity sequences of such curves and their behaviour under suitable Cremona transformations.
