For complex Banach spaces \(E\) and \(F\) let \(P({^mE},F)\) denote the space of all continuous \(m\)-homogeneous polynomials from \(E\) into \(F\) and \(H_b(E, F)\) the space of holomorphic mappings of bounded type. \(P_w({^mE}, F)\) and \(H_{wu}(E, F)\) are the subspaces of all polynomials and mappings which are weakly uniform continuous on bounded subsets of \(E\), respectively. In the first section of the article under review, the authors study the reflexivity of the first two of these spaces. If \(E\) and \(F\) are reflexive and \(E\) has the approximation property (or if \(E\) and \(F\) are reflexive, \(F\) has the approximation property, and \(P_w({^mE})\) is dense in \(P({^mE})\) with respect to the compact-open topology), then \(P({^mE},F)\) resp. \(H_b(E, F)\) is reflexive if and only if \(P({^mE}, F)= P_w({^mE}, F)\) resp. \(H_b(E, F)= H_{wu}(E, F)\). The result for polynomials had been proved by Alencar in case both \(E\) and \(F\) have the approximation property; the present authors give a shorter proof using Holub's result on the reflexivity of the space \(L(E, F)\) of all continuous linear mappings from \(E\) into \(F\). In the second section, the authors discuss biduality in \(P({^mE}, F)\) and \(H_b(E, F)\), providing a vector valued analog to \(Q\)-reflexivity, cf. \textit{R. M. Aron} and \textit{S. Dineen} [Rocky Mt. J. Math. 27, No. 4, 1009-1025 (1997; Zbl 0916.46011)]. The Aron-Berner extension plays an important role. Here is a sample result: Suppose that the bidual \(E''\) has the approximation property and the Radon-Nikodým property. Then \(H_{wu}(E, F)''\) and \(H_b(E'', F'')\) are canonically isomorphic. As a consequence, if \(P_w({^mE}, F)= P({^mE}, F)\) holds for each \(m\in\mathbb{N}\), then \(H_b(E, F)''\) is canonically isomorphic to \(H_b(E'', F'')\).
